Westside Motors

Balivanich, Benbecula HS7 5LA, UK – 01870 602191

We had a brake pad problem while staying on North Uist. Westside garage staff were brilliant. We even had Nathaniel call on us between calling in and taking it back to be fixed (when the parts had been delivered) because we were worried at the sound it was making. Nathaniel retrieved a stone out if the callipers and reassured us that we would be fine. On taking the car in, the problem was fixed within an hour at a price far cheaper than we were expecting. This garage is amazing and the owner was lovely, reassuring us we would not be stranded. I wished we lived on the Uists so Westside was my local garage. Thank you so much

Had a windscreen replaced to my Peugeot 2008 by Iain ... work completed well under 2 hours ...great garage very efficient and helpful and friendly staff..

Shell Bay House & Caravan Park

Linaclate, Isle of Benbecula HS7 5PJ, UK – 01870 602447

What makes a difference between a good campsite and a bad one? Adequate hooks in the showers and a seat to put your shoes and socks on is my benchmark. Shell Bay has lots of hooks and seats. Comfortable stay here while cycling from Barra to Stornoway. Nice clean and simple site. I had major pannier rack trauma requiring drilling new holes in the rack and reconfiguration. The owner could not have been more helpful, and gave me use of his drill and good advise. Can't thank him enough, it saved the trip from disaster.

Quite a nice flat site and near a good beach. The toilet block and showers were a credit to the owners in so far as they were immaculately clean - I have never seen better. BUT the shower itself was the worst we came across. The hot water took for ever to arrive and the pressure was so weak I could hardly rinse my hair. Such a pity as everything else was fine.
